Mutual Funds: Despite the high volatility in the stock market, investors continue to have faith in equity mutual funds. According to data from the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), a total of Rs 20,534.21 crore was infused into equity mutual funds in March, up nearly 31 per cent from the previous month.

With this, the total Assets Under Management (AUM) of the country’s mutual funds increased to Rs 39,42,031 crore. On the other hand, if we talk about the entire financial year, then mutual funds had invested Rs 1.81 lakh crore in equity in FY 2023. Earlier in 2022 this figure was Rs 1.2 lakh crore.

Highest investment in Sectoral/Thematic Funds

During the month of March, investors put maximum money in sectoral themed equity funds. According to AMFI data, sectoral theme funds saw a total inflow of Rs 3,928.97 crore in March.

Rs 2,685.58 crore investment came in ELSS schemes

On the other hand, Dividend Yield Equity Funds stood second in March with an investment of Rs 3,715.75 crore. Investors pumped in Rs 2,685.58 crore into ELSS schemes in March before the end of the financial year, making it the third most inflow-oriented scheme.

Midcap Fund ranked 5th

Apart from this, investors invested Rs 2,430.04 crore in Small Cap Fund during the month of March. Whereas, Midcap Fund held the fifth position with an investment of Rs 2,128.93 crore.

Highest withdrawal in liquid funds

Liquid funds in the income/debt focused category saw maximum outflows. There has been a withdrawal of Rs 56924.13 crore from such funds in March. Explain that liquid funds are better for those investors who invest money for a short period ranging from one day to 3 months.
