On this day the mind of the ascetic remains situated in Swadhisthana. Their prayer mantra is-

holding a lotus in her hands and a garland of axes| May Goddess, the supreme celibate, be pleased with me||

It has been mentioned (in the Shailputri article published yesterday) that when Sati was reborn, she came as the daughter of Himalayan King. On the advice of Narad ji, she performed severe penance to attain Lord Shiva. That is why she was called ‘Tapascharini’ or ‘Brahmacharini’. Spent a thousand years eating tubers, spent a hundred years eating vegetables.

The result of this penance was that he got blessings from Lord Brahma. Lord Brahmaji assured her that Shiva would definitely get married to her and also advised that her father was going to arrive in a few moments, so Parvati should return to the Himalayas with her father and wait for Shivaji. Women wear white saree on this day. According to Devi Purana, food is offered to two virgin girls on this day.
