The rupee today closed 8 paise higher at 82.62 against the US dollar led by forex inflows and strong macro data. The rupee opened at 82.58 on the Interbank Currency Exchange and touched a low of 82.76 in intraday trading.

The dollar index, which measures the dollar’s strength against six currencies, was up 0.59 per cent at 104.23 today.

The rupee closed strong on Friday, August 1. The rupee today closed 8 paise higher at 82.62 against the US dollar due to forex inflows and strong macro data.

At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 82.58 and touched a low of 82.76 during intra-day trade.

The dollar index , which measures the strength of the US dollar against six currencies , rose 0.59 percent to 104.23 today. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, rose 1.08 percent to US $ 87.77 per barrel.
