Ration Card New Rule: Under the National Food Security Law, the Central Government has decided to connect electronic scales to the Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) device at ration shops to ensure that the right amount of food items is available to the card holders. has ordered.

Ration Card Update: There is news of relief for those who take food items under ration card. On one hand, the government has extended the period of free ration till December. Modi government’s One Nation One Ration Card scheme has been implemented in the whole country, after which online electronic point of sale ie POS device has been made necessary at all the shops. The most important thing is that now the effect of this decision of the government is also visible.

Now there will be no problem in weighing the ration!

In fact, under the National Food Security Law, in order to ensure that the right amount of food grains is available to the card holders, the Central Government has decided to link electronic point of sale (EPOS) devices with electronic scales at ration shops. Security law regulations have been amended.

The new rule implemented across the country,

now all the fair price shops in the country have been connected with online electronic point of sale i.e. POS devices. That is, now there is no scope left for disturbances in the ration weighing. To ensure that the beneficiaries of the Public Distribution System (PDS) do not get less ration under any circumstances, hybrid model point of sale machines have been given to the ration dealers. These machines will work offline as well as in online mode if there is no network. Now card holders will be able to get goods under the National Food Security Act from any fair price shop in the country using their digital ration card.

What Does The Rule Say?

The government says that this amendment is an attempt to further the process of reforming foodgrain weighing under section 12 of the Act by improving transparency in the operation of the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) under the NFSA. Under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the government is providing five kg of wheat and rice (foodgrains) per person per month to about 80 crore people of the country at a subsidized rate of Rs 2-3 per kg respectively.

What Has Changed?

The government said that in order to incentivize the states operating the EPOS devices properly and to promote savings from the additional profit of Rs 17.00 per quintal, the Food Security (Assistance to State Governments Rules) 2015 sub-rule ( Rule 7 of 2) has been amended.

The savings, if any, to any State/UT from the additional margin provided for the cost of purchase, operation and maintenance of point of sale devices, shall be shared with the purchase, operation and maintenance of electronic weighing scales for both. is being used for integration.
