Kamada Ekadashi will be celebrated on Tuesday with devotion and faith. It is believed that this Ekadashi fulfils all kinds of wishes, hence it is called ‘Kamada’ (fulfilling wishes) Ekadashi. On this day, devotees will observe fast and worship Lord Vishnu in a proper manner and pray for happiness, peace and prosperity.
Pandit Suryamani Pandey said that Kamada Ekadashi falls on the Ekadashi date of Chaitra Shukla Paksha and is considered the first Ekadashi of the year. According to religious belief, by observing this fast, all the sins of a person are destroyed and he attains salvation. Especially this Ekadashi is considered to be the date that fulfils wishes, hence it is named Kamada Ekadashi.
According to the worship method, a vow is taken to observe the fast after taking a bath in the morning on this day. Throughout the day, Lord Vishnu’s name is remembered, the fasting story is read, Bhajans and Kirtans are performed and night vigil is performed. Devotees will remain without food and water or by eating fruits throughout the day. The fast is broken on the next day, Dwadashi Tithi.
On this holy day, devotees observe a fast and duly worship Lord Vishnu and pray for happiness, peace, prosperity and salvation. According to religious scriptures, fasting, Bhajans and Kirtans and reciting the fasting story on this day destroys all the sins of a person and one receives the grace of God. On this occasion, special worship, tableaus and Bhajans will be held in various temples. Devotees believe that on this day, with the grace of Lord Vishnu, all obstacles in life are removed and wishes are fulfilled.
