Are you also a victim of hair problems? Has falling hair and baldness weakened your confidence? If yes, then there is no need to worry now, a team of scientists has found a cure to stop hair fall.
Until a few decades ago, it was believed that the problem of hair turning grey or falling out increases with age. After the age of 50, there is a greater risk of baldness, however, this is now a thing of the past. In today’s time, people even below the age of 20 are seen to be troubled by hair related problems. Not only are the hair of people in the age group of 20-30 falling rapidly, the problem of baldness has also increased in them.
Are you also a victim of such a problem? Has falling hair and baldness weakened your confidence? If yes, then there is no need to worry now, a team of scientists has found a ‘miraculous way’ to stop hair fall.
It is being claimed that this will not only prevent hair fall but will also make it easier to grow new hair.
Increasing hair problems in Indian men
Many problems like lifestyle, food and environment have increased hair related problems to a great extent. Indian men are also seen to be very affected by this.
According to a data, about 50.31% men under the age of 25 in India are troubled by the problem of hair fall or baldness, this figure is 25.89% in men under the age of 21. More than Rs 2500 crore is being spent every year in India alone on the measures taken to treat hair or to grow it again.
A team of scientists is working towards finding a permanent cure for these hair problems, which is reported to be successful at the initial level.
Better results seen in study on mice
This study was conducted under the leadership of a team from Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore and Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research in Australia. In this, scientists have discovered a protein called MCL-1, which can play an important role in hair growth and protecting hair follicles.
If the production of this protein is increased, not only can hair be strengthened, but it can also help in reducing the risks of baldness. Good results have been seen in the study conducted on mice. The study has been published in the journal Nature Communication.
Role of protein in hair growth
To understand the role of this protein in hair growth, the team blocked this protein in mice for 90 days, after the protein was blocked, the hair of the mice started falling rapidly. On this basis, scientists found that this protein is necessary for hair growth. It helps in activating hair follicle stem cells.
The MCL-1 protein also protects follicle stem cells from getting damaged. If measures are taken to promote this protein or a medicine is developed for it, then it becomes easier for hair to grow again. After mice, it is now to be tested on humans.
Hair problems will go away
The researchers wrote in the study report, it was already known that MCL-1 is helpful in preventing many different types of tissues from dying. When it comes to hair, MCL-1 can also protect hair follicles from getting damaged.
If this test on humans is successful, then it can be very important in treating hair growth problems. It may be easier to treat hair and reduce baldness through drugs or other means that increase the production of MCL-1 protein.
