Finance Minister: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is going to leave for America for meeting with IMF and World Bank along with G20 hosting meeting. Many issues will be discussed here.

Finance Minister: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit the US to host the G20 meeting as well as attend the 2023 meeting of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). His visit to America will be for a week. During this time she will host the second G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting under India’s G20 Presidency and G20 related side events.

Giving information in its statement on Saturday, the Finance Ministry said that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will have a bilateral meeting in Washington DC from April 10 to 16, along with some investor sessions and other meetings. There Nirmala Sitharaman will also participate in the plenary session of the World Bank Development Committee and the IMF Committee along with the officials of the Ministry of Finance. During the meeting, the Finance Minister will interact with economists, world trade leaders, think tanks and investors in roundtables. There will be talks only with Indian expatriates.

The second G20 FMCBG meeting will be held in three sessions

Sitharaman and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das will jointly chair the 2nd G20 FMCBG meeting on April 12-13, 2023. About 350 delegates from G20 members, 13 other countries, international and regional organizations will participate in this meeting. The second G20 FMCBG meeting will consist of three sessions.

What issues will be discussed

Addressing food and energy insecurity, closing World Debt vulnerabilities, strengthening development banks, mobilizing funds for climate action, advancing financial inclusion, and accelerating international tax and financial progress at the second G20 FMCBG meeting. will be considered. This G20 FMCBG meeting will further the efforts to prepare the G20 India Finance Track Deliverables for the 3rd G20 FMCBG meeting to be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India in July 2023.

There will be a meeting with the World Bank and the IMF on April 12.

During her visit, the Finance Minister will also participate in a fireside chat at the Peterson Institute of International Economics (PIIE) on April 10, 2023. Will meet US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in a high-level meeting on 11 April. On April 12, there will be a meeting with the IMF and the World Bank. In this, there will be discussion on the current global debt and ways to solve the current challenges.
