Digital payments being made by Panchayats to their contractors: Officials
From next year, the provision of digital payments will also be included as a major parameter in the category of good governance in the National Panchayat Awards. A senior ministry official said that digital payments are being made by panchayats to their vendors, contractors etc.,
but revenue collection is still being done in the form of cash. Arrangements are now being made to collect various types of taxes, fees etc. received by the panchayats digitally.
If this system is implemented in all panchayats, then India’s digital payment figure will reach a lot. It can be gauged from this that at present, when the panchayats are not fully connected with digital payments, even then villages and towns have contributed more than fifty percent in the total digital payments of the country.
