Anil Ambani: Baramati, Nanded, Osmanabad, Latur and Yavatmal airports were given on lease to Ambani Group in 2008-09. Responding to a discussion on a calling attention notice by Congress’s Ashok Chavan and others on the current status of airports in the state, Fadnavis told the assembly that planes would take off from the airport in August next year.

Airports Leased to Anil Ambani: Anil Ambani’s difficulties are not taking the name of being reduced. The Maharashtra government is considering taking back the five airports leased to the Anil Ambani Group. The government may take this step due to poor maintenance of the company and non-payment of dues.

Before this, Anil Ambani’s Reliance Capital is facing the bankruptcy process. Reliance Capital had submitted an application to the NCLT for a resolution plan for IndusInd International Holdings Limited (IIHL), the investment arm of the Hinduja Group.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis said the company did not maintain the airports nor paid the dues. He said that we will consult the Advocate General of the state whether we can take charge of the airports by paying the dues and later taking them back from the company.

Fadnavis said in a tweet, ‘An authority will be constituted for proper airport management and a decision will be taken within 3 months.

Fadnavis said, the government is getting the terminal building constructed at Shirdi airport at a cost of 650 crores. He said that the government is planning to set up a dedicated authority for efficient airport management. A decision on this matter is expected within the next three months. These steps are aimed at enhancing air connectivity and infrastructure in Maharashtra, which will contribute to the overall growth and development of the state, he added.
