Share Market Update: Despite the fall in the market, the mid-cap index closed with a boom while the small-cap index closed down.
Stock Market Closing on 16th May 2023: Tuesday’s trading session for the Indian stock market was extremely disappointing. The stock market closed with a decline due to profit booking by investors, especially in banking stocks. At the end of today’s trading, the BSE Sensex fell by 413 points and closed below 62000 at 61,932 points. So the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange has closed at 18286 points with a decline of 112 points.
Condition of the sector
In today’s business, the shares of Banking, Auto, Pharma, FNCG, Metals, Media, Energy, Infra, Healthcare, Oil and Gas sectors closed down. While IT, government banks and consumer durables sector stocks gained momentum. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 13 closed higher and 17 closed down. Whereas, out of 50 stocks of Nifty, 19 stocks closed up and 31 closed down. Despite the fall in the market, the mid-cap index closed with gains while the small-cap index closed down.

In today’s business, Bajaj Finance closed with a gain of 0.98 per cent, SBI 0.88 per cent, NTPC 0.85 per cent, HUL 0.51 per cent, Infosys 0.43 per cent, Titan Company 0.43 per cent, Bajaj Finserv 0.40 per cent, Wipro 0.27 per cent. While HDFC closed down by 2.21 per cent, Tata Motors by 1.84 per cent, HDFC Bank by 1.76 per cent, Mahindra & Mahindra by 1.70 per cent, Kotak Mahindra Bank by 1.57 per cent, Bharti Airtel by 1.52 per cent, Maruti Suzuki by 1.43 per cent.
Loss to investors
Investors have suffered losses due to the fall in today’s trading session. The market cap of companies listed on BSE has come down to Rs 278.11 lakh crore, which was Rs 278.98 lakh crore on Monday. That is, in today’s session, investors have suffered a loss of Rs 87,000 crore.
