Share Market Update: Banking stocks came under pressure after GoFirst filed for bankruptcy, especially those banks that have given loans to airlines.
Stock Market Closing On 3rd May 2023: The Indian stock market closed with a decline in Wednesday’s trading session. This decline has been seen in the market due to profit booking in IT and energy stocks.
Banking stocks were also under pressure due to GoFirst Airways. At the end of today’s trading, the BSE Sensex closed down by 161 points at 61,193 and the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange closed down by 58 points at 18089 points.
Condition of the sector
In today’s trade, stocks of Banking, IT, Auto, Metals, Energy, Infra, Consumer Durables, Oil & Gas and Healthcare closed with losses. While the shares of FMCG, media, and retail estate sectors closed sharply. In today’s trade, where the Nifty Midcap index closed with a boom, the Small Cap index closed in the red mark.
Of the 30 Sensex stocks, 11 closed with gains and 19 closed with losses. Whereas, out of 50 Nifty stocks, 19 stocks closed up and 31 closed down. Banking stocks witnessed a sell-off as GoFirst Airways filed an application in the NCLT to declare it insolvent.

In today’s trade, HUL shares 1.53 per cent, Asian Paints 1.02 per cent, Tata Motors 0.88 per cent, Ultratight Cement 0.70 per cent, ITC 0.66 per cent, Nestle 0.64 per cent, Kotak Mahindra Bank 0.54 per cent, Maruti Suzuki 0.46 per cent, HDFC Bank 0.34 per cent, ICICI The bank closed with a gain of 0.15 per cent and NTPC by 0.11 per cent.
Falling stock
Looking at the falling stocks, Bharti Airtel 1.54 per cent, Tech Mahindra 1.46 per cent, Bajaj Finance 1.22 per cent, Axis Bank 1.22 per cent, TCS 1.16 per cent, Larsen 1.16 per cent, Sun Pharma 0.93 per cent, Reliance 0.87 per cent, SBI 0.86 per cent and Wipro 0.86 It closed with a loss of 1 per cent.
