Stock Market Closing : Banking stocks tumbled due to RBI’s decision on additional CRR, Indian stock market closed down

Stock Market Closing On 10 August 2023: Despite the Reserve Bank of India’s decision not to change the repo rate, the Indian stock market closed with a decline in Thursday’s trading session due to rapid selling in banking stocks. After the end of today’s trading, the BSE Sensex closed down by 307 points at 65,688 and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed down by 90 points at 19,543 points.

Condition of the sector

There has been a big fall in banking stocks in today’s trade. RBI has made a provision for banks to keep additional cash reserve ratio, due to which the Bank Nifty closed at 44,541 points with a decline of 339 points. Apart from this, shares of sectors like Auto, IT, Pharma, FMCG, Infra, Healthcare, Consumer Durables also closed down.

While only the shares of media, energy, metals and oil and gas sectors closed with a boom. Mid cap and small cap stocks also closed down in today’s trade. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 11 closed with gains and 19 closed with losses. Whereas, out of 50 stocks of Nifty, 19 stocks closed up and 31 closed down.

Decline in investor wealth

In today’s business, there has been a decline in the wealth of investors. The market cap of companies listed on BSE has come down to Rs 305.54 lakh crore, which closed at Rs 306.29 lakh crore in the previous session. Which means in today’s session, there has been a decrease of Rs 75,000 crore in the wealth of the investors.

Bullish stocks

In today’s business, IndusInd Bank closed with a gain of 1.59 per cent, JSW Steel 0.88 per cent, Titan Company 0.83 per cent, Power Grid 0.73 per cent, Mahindra & Mahindra 0.70 per cent. While Asian Paints closed down by 2.89 per cent, Kotak Mahindra by 1.63 per cent, ITC by 1.56 per cent, Bharti Airtel by 1.08 per cent.
