Indian Stock Market Closing On 17 July 2023: Due to buying in banking stocks, the Indian stock market has once again closed at a record high in the first trading session of the week.
Bank Nifty saw a gain of about 700 points due to buying in banking stocks. Due to which the BSE Sensex closed at 66,590 with a jump of 529 points and the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange closed at 19,711 points with a jump of 147 points.
Condition of the sector
Banking and financial stocks have gained momentum in today’s business. Bank Nifty closed with a gain of 1.41 per cent. Apart from Nifty IT 0.31 per cent, Pharma 0.77 per cent, sectors such as metals, media, energy, healthcare, oil and gas, consumer durables closed sharply.
While the shares of auto and real estate sector closed down. Small cap and mid cap sector stocks also showed great growth. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 18 closed with gains and 12 closed down. Whereas, out of 50 stocks of Nifty, 31 stocks closed up and 19 closed down.

In today’s trade, SBI closed with a gain of 2.81 per cent, Wipro 2.54 per cent, Reliance 2.10 per cent, HDFC Bank 2.07 per cent, Kotak Mahindra Bank 1.45 per cent, Tech Mahindra 1.24 per cent, IndusInd Bank 1.04 per cent. Among the falling stocks, Tata Motors closed down by 1.02 per cent, Bharti Airtel by 0.89 per cent, Titan Company by 0.70 per cent, Mahindra & Mahindra by 0.66 per cent.

Due to the spectacular boom in the stock market, the market cap of stocks of companies listed on BSE crossed Rs 303 lakh crore for the first time. At the close of business today, the market cap of listed companies on BSE stood at Rs 303.88 lakh crore.
