Who are senior citizens?

Old Age Pension Scheme-
Governments of the country and the state give old age pension to the old people. At present, the Kejriwal government of Delhi gives Rs 2000 per month to the old people up to 60-69 years and Rs 2500 per month to the old people above 70 years. At the same time, the Uttar Pradesh government gives 800 rupees every month to the elderly above 60 years.
Medical Bill Exemption-
The government has increased the exemption limit for medical expenses incurred on treatment of serious diseases like cancer, motor neurone disease, AIDS etc. for all senior citizens. Now all old people above the age of 60 years can avail income tax rebate under Section 80DDB of the Income Tax Act on treatment of up to Rs 1 lakh for the diseases mentioned above. These people will not have to pay tax on income of Rs 1 lakh out of their total income.
