Onion Price Hike: After tomato, now get ready for another blow, onion prices can increase by Rs.

Onion Price Hike: Monsoon rains have had the biggest impact on vegetable crops. The prices of vegetables including tomatoes are on the seventh sky. For the last two months, the increased prices of tomatoes have spoiled the taste of the people and now onion is preparing to bring tears from their eyes.

If the experts of vegetable markets are to be believed, soon the pressure of onion is going to increase on the pocket of common consumers. According to Narendra Wadhawane, secretary of Lasalgaon (Maharashtra) Agricultural Market Committee, Asia’s biggest onion market, due to heavy rains in the past, there has been a lot of damage to the stored onions and there is a continuous decrease in the supply of onions in the market.

However, according to a report, it is a matter of relief that the government has a reserve of about 2.5 lakh tonnes of onions. In such a situation, to control the rise in onion prices, the government can launch it in the market.

According to market experts, in the months of August-September, there is often a fall in onion stocks and onion prices rise. On the other hand, the next crop of onion comes in October.

At present, onions are being sold at around Rs 30 per kg. But if market experts are to be believed, the price of onion is likely to reach Rs 60 to 70 per kg by next month. Also, these people estimate that this increase in onion prices will remain below the highest level of 2020.

Meanwhile, it is being said that there has been less onion cultivation this year. It is being told that due to the reduction in the price of onions, farmers have done less onion cultivation this time. The area under onion cultivation will decrease by 8 percent this year. Due to this, the production of onion kharif can fall by 5 percent.
