Milk Price Hike : Union Minister Rupala gave updates on the import of dairy products, said- no need to worry

Butter And Dairy Products Price Updates Union Minister Parshottam Rupala has asked not to worry while giving an update on the increasing demand for milk and dairy products in the country and due to this import.

A few days ago news was coming that India is going to import products like butter and other dairy, but denying these things, Union Minister Parshottam Rupala has made it clear that the country will not import dairy products like butter and will produce it on a large scale. But the supply will be improved with the help of the domestic sector.

“There is no truth to the shortage of dairy products and there will be no import,” Rupala, who is in charge of the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, told reporters at an event. The government is regularly monitoring it and necessary steps can be taken if needed.

Said this about the prices of milk

On the rise in retail prices of dairy products, the minister said there was no need to worry about the prices. The demand has increased, but we have huge untapped area which we will try to utilize and manage it properly, he added. Along with this, he told the farmers that they are getting good prices.

It is worth noting that in the recent past, the price of milk has been seen to increase several times. In February, Amul raised milk prices by Rs 3, its fifth increase in a year. Retail inflation in milk rose to 9.65% in February, from 8.79% in the previous month. This is the largest increase in anything after cereals. It is sold for Rs 66 in the national capital Delhi, while toned milk costs Rs 54.

India is the largest producer of milk

India is the largest milk producer in the world. Estimated production in India in the financial year 2021-22 is 221 million tonnes. Despite this, the demand for milk is continuously increasing. There is a demand-supply mismatch amid rising demand from commercial buyers post the pandemic. Maintaining smooth supply is a challenge for this industry amidst the increasing demand from hotels, restaurants and canteens etc.
