Importance of Kalpavas in Mahakumbh

During the Mahakumbh, many devotees live in Kalpavas, which is a difficult penance. Kalpavas is considered to be the path to liberation of body, mind and soul. According to the scriptures, the duration of Kalpavas can be one night, three nights, three months, six months, six years, twelve years or even a lifetime. The importance of Kalpavas increases during the Kumbh Mela. In 2025, Maha Kumbh will begin on January 13 along with Paush Purnima and Kalpavas will also begin from this day.
