The shares of Public Insurance Company LIC were listed on the stock market on May 17, 2022. At that time its shares were listed at an eight per cent discount to the issue price of Rs 949. Its price was Rs 872 in BSE and Rs 867.20 per share in NSE.

through the initial public issue (IPO) of LIC, the government got Rs 20,557 crore. This was the biggest IPO in the country. However, after the completion of one year of listing in the stock market, there has been a steep decline in its prices both on BSE and NSE. LIC’s share has fallen by 39.92 percent in comparison to the issue price in BSE while its price has declined by 39.93 percent in NSE.
Share closed at Rs 570 level on Wednesday
On Wednesday, LIC’s share closed at Rs 570.10 per equity with a gain of 0.48 percent. At the same time, the company’s stock closed at Rs 570 per equity, up 0.44 per cent on the NSE.
The stock did not go beyond Rs 949 even once in a year.
In the last one year, LIC’s share reached a maximum price of Rs 920 and its lowest level was Rs 530.20. In the entire year, it could not cross the issue price of Rs 949 even once.
LIC’s market cap decreased
As a result, the market capitalization of LIC came down to Rs 3,60,588.12 crore on Wednesday, while its valuation was around Rs 5.54 lakh crore on the day of listing. In this way, there has been a decline of Rs 1,93,411.88 crore in the market capitalization of the company. In terms of market valuation, LIC has now slipped to 13th position.
