Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has advised users to update to the new version immediately. This advisory is available on the official website of CERT-In.
CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team) which is the nodal agency of the country and looks after issues related to cyber security. He has issued a warning to Apple users in India. CERT-In has found vulnerabilities on Mac PC, Watch, Apple TV that when exploited can give an attacker “access to sensitive information”. Flaws found in Mac PC’s Safari web browser
These vulnerabilities are in the Safari web browser on Mac PC. CERT-In noted that the flaw exists due to ‘improper state management’ in the WebKit component. “An attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by convincing a victim to visit a specially crafted web page,” the warning said. If the user ceases to provide information, sensitive information may be removed.
Update new version immediately
The agency told that users need to update Safari version 16.4. Open a web browser Open the Apple Store desktop app Update in the App Store toolbar Use the Updates button to download and install any updates listed.
Similarly many issues have been found on Apple Watch and Apple TV. CERT-In noted that several flaws have been found in AppleMobileFileIntegrity, Identity Services, Podcasts, TCC, Find My, Shortcuts and WebKit, due to which vulnerabilities also exist in Apple tvOS and watchOS products.
These vulnerabilities allow an attacker to steal sensitive user information. The agency has advised users to update to the new Apple tvOS and watchOS versions. There is no warning for iPhone and iPad users, but it is best to update the operating system version to iOS 16.4 and iPadOS 16.4.
