EPFO E Nomination For Social Security: In case of any untoward incident with PF account holders, e-nomination can be given to the nominee or dependents (spouse, children and parents) for EPF, Employees Pension Scheme (EPS), and Employees Enables withdrawal of earned money from Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLI) .
Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has been asked to file e-nomination through a tweet. A family is defined as the employee’s spouse, any minor children they have, as well as any adopted children; These persons can be nominated by the EPF member as nominee. In EPFO’s tweet, the attention of PF account holders has also been drawn to what they have to do before e-enrolment.

- UAN should be linked with Aadhaar and activated.
- Mobile number should be linked with Aadhaar.
- Both the photo and address of the PF subscriber should be updated.
- Scanned photograph of the family (size 3.5X4.5 cm) should be uploaded.
- Apart from this, Aadhaar of the account holder, bank account number including IFSC code.
- Along with this the address of the bank should also be there.
In order to provide social security benefits to dependent members, Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) launched the e-nomination process for members of Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) accounts in March 2022. EPFO’s official website at epfindia.gov. In, members can use their Universal Account Number (UAN) for submitting digital nominations.
Benefits of filing e-nomination online
- To get social security benefits, you need to submit an EPFO e-nomination for your PF account, and Employees Deposit-Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLI) with benefits up to seven lakhs, as per EPFO within three days of submitting the e-nomination. There are advantages. Online claim settlement after death of member, online payment of PF, pension and Rs 7 lakh to eligible nominee and paperless and speedy claim settlement are all available.
- An EPF member need not fill the physical form by asking from his employer. Instead, they can update their EPF enrollment online using the EPFO UAN portal.
- One has to file e-nomination for availing Provident Fund (PF), Pension (EPS), and Insurance (EDLI) benefits online.
How to file e-nomination online?
EPF members should be aware that only Aadhaar-validated UAN holders can submit electronic nomination as per EPFO rules. Aadhaar verification is a requirement, while applying for UAN the name, date of birth and gender of the member is validated against his/her Aadhaar. Before you start filing, you will need to provide the following information: father’s name, marital status, date of joining, photo and address of the member.
- Visit epfindia.gov.in and login to your EPF account using UAN and password.
- Go to ‘Manage’ section and click on ‘e-nomination’
- Click on ‘Yes’ against the option to be a family
- Enter the details of your family members like Aadhaar, Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Relation, Address, Bank Account details (Optional, Guardian and Photo which should be less than this).
- If you want to add more family details, click on ‘Add family details’.
- Now click on ‘Save EPF Nomination’ and e-sign your application using Aadhaar based e-Authentication.
Important Notes as per EPFO
- If the member wants to nominate some family members, he should add them.
- If the member is married and has a spouse and children, he should add them even if he does not want to nominate them under PF.
- Spouse and children are defined as family for the purpose of the Pension Fund. That’s why his name should be added to the family list.
- Please keep the Aadhaar number and photograph of the family member ready with you before starting the filing.
- Only a member who is not married and does not have any member of his family as defined above can nominate any other person in respect of PF.
- Only a member who does not have a spouse or children can nominate a person for pension contribution.
- If there is no spouse and no children then only the pension nomination link will open and the member can nominate one person.
