Why is Eid ul-Azha celebrated?

Eid ul-Azha is celebrated in memory of the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim. It is mentioned in the Quran and Hadith that Prophet Ibrahim was going to sacrifice his son Ismail on the orders of Allah. But before he could sacrifice him, Allah gave life to his son. Then instead of Ismail, a Dumba (a type of goat) was sacrificed. Since then, goats are sacrificed on Eid ul-Azha. This tradition has been going on for centuries, which continues even today.

Eid ul-Azha is celebrated in the last month of the Islamic calendar.
According to the Islamic calendar, Bakrid is celebrated 10 days after sighting the moon of Zilhijja, the last month of the year. Let us make it clear that this is not the last month of the Roman calendar but the last month of the Islamic calendar.

The meat of the animal which is sacrificed on the day of Eid ul-Azha is divided into three parts. This is done so that brotherhood remains in the society.
First part: It is given to the poor and needy.
Second part: It is given to relatives and friends.
Third part: It is kept for oneself.
