The central government is now putting 2000 rupee notes out of circulation. Giving information, the Reserve Bank has told that its legal tender will remain, but it will be taken out of circulation. If you also have 2000 rupee notes lying with you, then you can get it changed in the bank by 30 September.

Will be valid till 30 September

PTI has written in the official tweet that RBI will remove Rs 2,000 notes from circulation. These notes will remain legally valid till 30 September.

After demonetisation in 2016,

RBI has advised all banks in the country to stop issuing Rs 2,000 notes with immediate effect. RBI has taken this decision under the Clean Note Policy. After the demonetisation in the year 2016, the government had started 2000 rupee notes.

20,000 rupees can be changed in one go

According to RBI, after May 23, 2023, you can change notes up to a maximum of 20 thousand rupees. RBI has taken this decision so that other work of the bank is not affected.

2000 note not printed since 2019

After the note ban on 8 November 2016, the government started printing new notes of 500 and 2000 rupees. After demonetisation, Rs 2000 notes came in the market, but for the last few years RBI had stopped printing Rs 2000 notes. From the financial year 2019 to 2023, not a single 2000 rupee note has been printed.
