Bank Holiday in August 2023: Like every month, the Reserve Bank of India has released the list of holidays for this month as well. According to the new calendar, banks are going to have 14 days holiday during the month of August. Banks will remain closed on all of these Sundays as well as on second and fourth Saturdays. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has kept these holidays in three categories. These holidays are going to fall on different days in different states.
Holidays except Sunday and Saturday
Apart from Saturdays and Sundays, there are going to be some eight bank holidays in the month of August. These include Tendong Lo Rum Phat, Independence Day, Parsi New Year (Shahanshahi), Srimanta Sankardeva’s date, First Onam, Thiruvonam, Raksha Bandhan, Raksha Bandhan/Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti/Pang-lhabsol.

- Bank Holiday in Sikkim on 8th August due to (Tendong Lo Rum Phat)
- Bank holiday across India on 15th August (Independence Day)
- Bank Holiday in Belapur, Mumbai and Nagpur on account of 16th August (Parsi New Year – Shahanshahi)
- Bank Holiday in Guwahati on 18th August due to Shrimant Shankardev Tithi
- Bank holiday in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram on August 28, first Onam day
- Bank holiday in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram on Thiruvonam on August 29
- bank holiday in jaipur and shimla on 30 august on raksha bandhan
- Bank Holiday in Dehradun, Gangtok, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram on 31st August due to Raksha Bandhan
how many saturdays and sundays off
During the month of August, banks can remain closed for a total of 6 days including Saturdays and Sundays. Sunday on 6th August, second Saturday on 12th August, Sunday on 13th August, Sunday on 20th August, fourth Saturday on 26th August and Sunday on 27th August will be holiday.
Demand to work only 5 days a week
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has demanded that the working days for banks be kept only five days a week. Along with this, the employees get 2 days weekly leave. At present, bank employees get a holiday on Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays.
