It is believed that earlier Ramkien was only recited orally, but under the leadership of King Rama-1 in the 18th century, this Ramayana was written, which is today very popular among the people of Thailand in the name of Ramkien.

Laos

A different version of Ramayana is seen in Laos, which is known as Phra Lak Phra Ram. In this we can see a wonderful glimpse of the Buddhist culture of Laos. In Phra Lak Phra Ram, Lord Ram is considered to be the previous birth of Gautam Buddha and he is considered to be a king who followed the path of dignity and religion. The version of Ramayana in Indonesia is called Kakawin Ramayana. It was written in Javanese script in the 8th or 9th century. Apart from the main characters of Ram , Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman, several local deities are also mentioned in it . This Ramayana has such an impact on the culture there that scenes from Ramayana are also included in the famous Kekak dance of Indonesia.
