2000 Rupees Note Exchange: Deadline is over, know how you can exchange or deposit 2000 rupee notes now

According to the rules of Reserve Bank of India, after October 7, no bank will accept currency of Rs 2,000. However, even after this these notes will remain legal tender. Where to deposit

RBI had issued a notification on September 30, according to which banks will not accept the Rs 2,000 note from October 8 and will not even deposit it in their accounts. Also, it will not be exchanged with any other note. However, in one way you can deposit and exchange this note.

Will have to go to RBI office

For this you will have to visit one of the 19 regional offices of RBI. You can get the note exchanged by visiting any branch or deposit it in your bank account. Besides, you can also send Rs 2000 note to RBI offices through post office.

Will anyone be fined

If you have not yet exchanged Rs 2,000, then now you can go to any one of the 19 offices of RBI or send it through post office. RBI will not charge any fee for exchanging or depositing Rs 2,000 notes.

The 19 regional offices of RBI include Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram.

How many notes can be deposited

According to RBI, any institution or individual can deposit or exchange Rs 2,000 note in the account up to Rs 20,000.
